About

About Tyler Ross

Tyler Ross recently moved from Manhattan to San Francisco, California, with his wife and daughter after living in New York City for over 10 years. He and his family are enjoying West Coast living. In his spare time, when not being a father to his young daughter or writing one of his books, Tyler chronicles the sights, sounds, culture, activities, and cuisine of the Bay Area for those considering making a similar move.

Tyler’s Profession

Putting Pen to Paper

Tyler’s primary job is writing. He is a writer with a deep love for storytelling, self-expression, and a joy of language. His writing stems from his desire to create, to reflect, and connect with others through words. Writing brings him a sense of purpose and satisfaction.

Tyler’s Observations

Tyler puts his diverse interests to use in documenting his new life. As a writer, collector, cyclist, and foodie, he covers everything from historical insights and rare finds to local cuisine and life on two wheels—bringing creativity, reflection, and a storyteller’s touch to everything he explores.

Bicycling

Tyler is an avid cyclist. He has quickly discovered the best way to experience San Francisco is by riding through its many streets and parks. As long as you don’t mind the hills, San Francisco is the perfect biking city. Tyler has been slowly working his way across over 62 miles of mountain bike trails, and many bike lanes as well. Not only does he photograph the must-see sites, but he also has been mapping out the most bicycle-friendly routes and rating them on difficulty.

A True Foodie

Living in Manhattan for over a decade, Tyler Ross and his family enjoyed a variety of culinary delights. While New York is the more nationally recognized food town, many locals believe that San Francisco’s restaurant scene is even better. Tyler, whose love of food hasn’t slowed since moving to the Bay Area, is out to test that theory. He is in the process of trying all the city’s restaurants, enjoying its diverse cuisine and rich food scene, from Mexican to Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Italian. Tyler also indulges in the Bay Area’s many fresh seafood options, including the area’s famed local crabs and oysters. With so many fresh food options and farm-to-table restaurants in the city, Tyler continues to discover the many flavors his new home has to offer.

Photography, meanwhile, is a way for Tyler to capture special moments and places. He photographs sites, both abroad and at home, but above all, he loves photographing his daughter, documenting her childhood, first in Manhattan and now in San Francisco, as well as seeing the smile and sheer joy of a toddler experiencing life. He also photographs his family’s experiences during their travels, knowing they will all be looking back on these images one day.
